In the world of sports..
I should also take note that this weekend was the first time all year that both Rice and the Bucs won their respective games. It only took 3 months...

Also, Rice men's basketball starts their season 3 - 0 after winning the "Top of the World Classic" in Fairbanks.

Good weekend, overall. :)

From the Telegraph: Britain threatens veto on EU Constitution

I'm glad that Great Britain is pushing back against the EU's desire to consume all national sovereignty. I'm glad Spain and Poland (actual American allies, as opposed to France & Germany) are demanding a bigger seat at the table.

I laugh at the French assertion that "the new European force could carry out operations independently of NATO." Not without a massive increase in defense spending that your welfare state cannot afford, Monsieur Chirac.

Intriguing..
AAS: Dell sending some jobs back to U.S.

From the article: "English-speaking Indian workers are highly educated but earn a fraction of American salaries. Some customers have complained they can't understand Indian workers because of their accents and that tech-support workers rely too heavily on scripted answers."

I think this is based more on perception than reality. Indian tech-support workers are more likely to be better educated than American tech-support. And a script is used in both places -- that's part of my job as an engineer: to develop the scripts, or "troubleshooting trees" for the folks in tech support.
