French trying to create an EU-within-the-EU?
Now that France has discovered that it can control neither many of the original EU members, nor the new admittees, they appear to be trying to start over in some way.

What happens when you're a conservative Anglican congregation in a liberal diocese?
The Diocese of New Westminster is the Canadian diocese, that along with the Diocese of New Hampshire is at the heart of this year's Anglican gay bishop/same-sex marriage brouhaha. Seven parishes in that diocese are seeking to be affiliated with the more conservative Diocese of Yukon.

This seems to be the sort of thing that the Primates considered earlier this month at their London meeting.

What is the response of the New Westminster Diocese? Bring the parish priests up on ecclesiastical charges of disloyalty, which may lead to their excommunication from a Communion they're attempting to remain faithful to.

A shady deal
David Brooks has a good op/ed in the NYT today. Shame on the Congressional Republicans if this goes through.

"A droite Reasonings"
Hee-hee. Rightward Reasonings (mostly) in the language of the weasels.

Anglicans moving closer to Catholicism?
They might have to start fitting Abp. Williams for a big white hat soon.

Not that I've said anything like that before...

What a weekend..
We had been looking forward to a relaxing weekend after having houseguests (Teresa's brother, sister-in-law, their 4-year-old daughter, and their 17-year-old niece) all last week. Twas not to be.

One of our kitties broke her hip Saturday, so she's going in for surgery today. We had to keep her confined to a bunny cage all weekend, which she didn't like at all. Lucas has been doing a lot of high-pitched squealing lately. He might be getting his first tooth in. The generic "Dishwashing Liquid" we got at H-E-B is apparently meant for handwashing dishes, despite being stocked with the dishwasher detergents. Half our kitchen floor was coated with soap suds before we noticed.
