Signs at last that the economy is picking up speed?

NRO has a refreshing piece of news this morning -- the non-manufacturing sector of the economy is apparently going gangbusters.

Read the article for a description of this index. Note that we've not only climbed out of the troughs of the '01 recession and the '02/'03 sluggish recovery, we're now at the highest point since this index was created in '97!

Elsewhere in the Axis of Evil..
The North Korea 6-way nuclear talks are set to get underway. Hopefully they will prove productive, but I wouldn't bet money on it. N. Korea isn't about to give up its nuclear program, which is the only thing it sees as between it and US invasion. Oh, they may agree to "give it up", but I bet they won't agree to the kind of inspections it would require to demonstrate conclusively that they have indeed abandoned their program.
