Yahoo - Bush Admin. Freezes Hamas Leaders' Assets

Dean!
Howard, Howard, Howard... did you learn nothing from 1984?

Mondale: "Mr. Reagan will raise taxes, and so will I. He won't tell you; I just did." Mondale went on to lose 49 states.

Dean: "As president, my economic policies will be focused and clear. I will begin by repealing the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts...."

The headline almost got it right..
At Yahoo: "Hamas Abandons Truce After Israeli Strike"

Of course, since Hamas has claimed responsibility for Tuesday's bus bombing that the 'Israeli Strike' was in response to, one might say that they abandoned the truce before the Israeli strike, no?

Speaking of the PGA Championship..
During Saturday's broadcast, a Microsoft commercial came on. I can't believe this one was actually produced.

The tagline was (if I recall correctly), "Microsoft Windows Server 2003: Teach your business to do more with less."

Does anyone else find that as hilarious as I do?

Why does France have a permanent seat at the Security Council?
France is threatening to veto a proposed settlement with Libya over the Pan Am 103 bombing. They have their panties in a twist because our negotiators (in concert with those from Great Britain) were able to wring $2.7 billion out of the Libyans, whereas the perfidious French were only able to get $36 million out of them in reparations for a 1989 UTA bombing over Niger.

Seems to me that Libya just sees which way the wind is blowing and knows that we no longer have any patience with terrorist sponsoring states. They don't want to see 1st MEF knocking on their door.

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright?
The 85th PGA Championship was held this past weekend. The winner was a journeyman named Shaun Micheel who had never before won a PGA event. The winner was not Tiger Woods. The winner was also not any of the other 3,438 professional golfers on the major or minor tours. You wouldn't know about any of them from reading the media coverage, though. All you hear about is Micheel and some guy who tied for 39th.

The sports reporters are loving this ongoing storyline of a "Tiger Slump", despite the fact that Tiger remains #1 in the world by a hefty margin, and that he has won 4 of the 14 tournaments he has entered this year. No, just beacuse he hasn't won a "major" tournament -- any of the US Open, the British Open, the Masters, or the PGA Championship -- in his last 6 tries, he's in a slump. Never mind that 3,434 pro golfers haven't won any of the last 6 majors either -- and damn near all of them haven't won even one, let alone eight like Tiger has.

Lay off, guys!
